The Skilled Work Visa permits eligible individuals to enter the UK to work in a position that is deemed suitable by an authorized sponsor. This visa also provides the opportunity to bring dependents, including a spouse or partner and any children under the age of 18, to the UK.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be employed by a UK employer that has received approval from the Home Office.
- Possess a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) from your employer detailing the role you have been offered in the UK.
- Engage in a profession that is included on the list of eligible occupations.
- Earn a minimum salary, which is dependent on your job type and the date of
issuance of your Certificate of Sponsorship. As per the latest government update in December 2023, the salary requirement for Skilled Worker visa applicants is set to increase substantially. Starting from April 4, 2024, the minimum salary for most applicants will jump by almost 50%, from £26,200 to £38,700.

Skilled Worker Visa Application Process and Eligible Positions
According to Skilled Worker visa policies, diverse job positions are available to offer visa opportunities for applicants with various backgrounds. - Overseas Applicants: The application process typically takes 1 week.
- Domestic Applicants: The application process for those within the country is estimated to be 3-4 weeks
Main Applicant Working Visa:
The application duration for the main applicant’s working visa is approximately 1-3 months.
How long does a Skilled Worker visa last?
The skilled worker visa is usually granted for up to 5 years. At this point, the visa holder would need to apply to extend the visa or on completing the 5-year residency requirement, they may become eligible to apply for UK indefinite leave the remain. There is no limit on the number of times the Skilled Worker visa can be extended, provided the worker continues to meet the visa requirements.
