Role Overview
Senior Associates lead legal matters, manage client relationships and help develop the next generation of lawyers at Schinder Law Firm.
This role is intended for experienced lawyers who demonstrate strong legal judgment, commercial awareness, leadership capability and the potential to progress toward partnership.
As an Indonesia-based business law firm, Schinder Law Firm advises international companies, foreign investors and Indonesian businesses on corporate transactions, foreign investment, projects, regulatory matters and dispute resolution. Senior Associates are expected to lead matters effectively while translating Indonesian legal and regulatory requirements into practical business advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead corporate, transactional, regulatory and dispute-related matters from initial assessment through completion.
- Provide clear, practical and commercially focused Indonesian legal advice to clients.
- Manage client relationships, understand clients’ business objectives and anticipate legal and regulatory risks.
- Supervise Associates, Junior Associates, Paralegals and Interns, including reviewing their work and providing professional guidance.
- Manage matter strategy, scope, timelines, quality standards and internal coordination.
- Participate in negotiations, client meetings and communications with counterparties, external advisers and relevant authorities.
- Ensure that legal advice, agreements, correspondence, regulatory submissions and other work products meet the firm’s professional standards.
- Contribute to legal knowledge development, internal training and the continuous improvement of the firm’s working methods.
- Support the firm’s long-term development through excellent client service, professional networks, thought leadership and appropriate business development activities.
- Demonstrate integrity, accountability and ownership in every matter entrusted to them.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in law from a reputable university. A master’s degree is an advantage.
- Five to nine years of relevant experience at a law firm or in a substantial in-house legal role.
- Admission to the Indonesian Bar and a valid advocate licence are strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Indonesian corporate, commercial and regulatory law, with the ability to conduct and supervise high-quality legal research.
- Excellent legal drafting, analytical, negotiation and matter-management skills.
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia.
- Proven ability to manage clients, lead teams and develop junior lawyers.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to translate legal issues into practical business advice.
- High ethical standards, sound professional judgment and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative and multilingual team.
