Programme Overview
The Finance, Accounting & Tax Internship Programme provides university students and recent graduates with supervised practical exposure to finance, accounting and Indonesian tax administration within a professional-services environment.
Interns may assist with bookkeeping, financial-document organisation, billing records, reconciliations, tax-supporting documents and financial administration, depending on available assignments and the Intern’s demonstrated capability.
The programme is designed to develop practical skills, professional discipline, attention to detail and an understanding of financial controls and confidentiality.
An Intern is a temporary participant in the Firm’s professional learning programme and is not appointed as a Finance, Accounting & Tax Officer or authorised financial representative of Schinder Group.
Learning Opportunities
Interns may gain supervised exposure to:
- Basic bookkeeping and transaction recording.
- Organisation of invoices, receipts, payment records and supporting documents.
- Accounts receivable and accounts payable administration.
- Bank, ledger and billing reconciliations.
- Indonesian tax records, calculations and filing support.
- Financial trackers, schedules and reporting documents.
- Accounting software, including Accurate Software.
- Internal financial controls and approval procedures.
- Audit preparation and document management.
- Professional communication, confidentiality and workplace responsibility.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants should ordinarily:
- Be enrolled in or have recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Fiscal Administration or another relevant field.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping or Indonesian taxation.
- Have good numerical and analytical ability.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to organise information accurately.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard office applications.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
- Be able to follow instructions, meet deadlines and seek clarification when necessary.
- Demonstrate integrity, reliability and respect for confidentiality.
- Be willing to learn, receive feedback and correct errors carefully.
- Be able to work effectively within a professional and collaborative team.
Experience with Accurate Software, accounting organisations, tax courses, student activities or previous internships may be considered an advantage but is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with entering financial information into approved accounting systems under supervision.
- Collect, check, organise and file invoices, receipts, payment records and other supporting documents.
- Assist with the preparation of preliminary financial schedules, summaries and trackers.
- Support the maintenance of accounts receivable and accounts payable records.
- Assist with routine bank, ledger, billing and other reconciliations.
- Support invoice preparation and payment-administration processes.
- Assist with Indonesian tax calculations, filing records and supporting documentation under supervision.
- Update assigned financial, billing, tax and document trackers.
- Check documents for missing information, inconsistencies and incomplete approvals.
- Support accounting closing and audit-preparation activities when assigned.
- Maintain accurate and organised records of completed work.
- Follow all financial controls, approval procedures and information-security requirements.
- Protect the confidentiality of financial, banking, tax, payroll, employee, client and Firm information.
- Promptly report errors, missing documents, unusual transactions and potential delays.
- Participate in training, feedback sessions and other learning activities.
- Perform other reasonable internship assignments under appropriate supervision.
Professional Expectations
Finance, Accounting & Tax Interns are expected to:
- Complete assignments carefully and within the agreed timeframe.
- Check figures, names, dates and supporting documents before submitting work.
- Clearly identify incomplete information and unresolved questions.
- Ask for clarification when instructions or financial information are unclear.
- Maintain complete and orderly records.
- Use only approved systems, devices and communication channels.
- Accept feedback constructively and implement corrections accurately.
- Never conceal an error, discrepancy, missing document or potential delay.
- Demonstrate honesty, discipline, curiosity and professional responsibility.
Limits of Authority
Finance, Accounting & Tax Interns must not:
- Approve or authorise transactions, reimbursements or payments.
- Execute or release payments.
- Add or modify bank-account beneficiaries.
- Sign financial statements, tax filings, audit confirmations or regulatory submissions.
- Submit tax filings or payments without authorised supervision and approval.
- Communicate financial commitments to clients, banks, vendors, auditors or authorities.
- Change accounting records, classifications, policies or tax positions without approval.
- Access financial information or systems outside their authorised assignments.
- Disclose confidential information to unauthorised persons.
- Represent themselves as an accountant, tax adviser, Finance Officer or authorised representative of Schinder Group.
All substantive work must be reviewed by an authorised supervisor before it is processed, circulated externally or relied upon.
Programme Development
Interns will receive reasonable supervision and feedback appropriate to the duration and nature of the programme.
Interns who demonstrate strong technical potential, accuracy, integrity, reliability, professional discipline and alignment with the organisation’s values may be considered for future internship programmes or Junior Finance, Accounting & Tax Officer opportunities.
Completion of the internship does not guarantee permanent employment. Any future appointment will depend on qualifications, performance, available vacancies and the operational requirements of Schinder Group.
